Expectant mum was shamed for her baby bump- she responded in the best possible way

Revie Jane, a blogger and Crossfit trainer, has spoken out about how she experienced baby bump shaming during her pregnancy. At 24 weeks pregnant, Revie was trying on a dress when the sales assistant commented on how large her bump was for that stage of pregnancy. Taking to Instagram this week, she explained how humiliated she felt when the woman in the shop exclaimed: “Holy moly! My friend is 36 weeks and you’re only 24 weeks and you’re WAY bigger than her!" Revie, who gave birth to Lexington Louise in April of this year, said that the salesperson said the very same thing about Revie's bump to the woman in the cubicle next to her. As if this particular occasion wasn't bad enough, Revie said that she experienced 'bump shaming' on a number of occasions and understandably, this caused her great upset. Three months down the line, she decided to make her feelings public via social media. Her top tip was pretty simple too, simply requesting that people quit discussing the size of baby bumps and to be fair, she's right. Everyone is different and no one should be made to feel embarrassed about something so very special.

It's tough, you're carrying a human, your body is dramatically changing, more than you ever expected and then to rub salt in it, strangers feel the need to comment every time you're out in public. Here's a tip, don't mention the size of a bump. No "you're so big!'s" No "oh! You're so tiny!'s" Just say something like "you look beautiful/ healthy/ amazing!" ? • • • REPOST • • • "Oh babe, wait, my hair!" Turned into a nice profile shot of baby. Now before you ask, I'm 24 Weeks and before you compare your bump to mine, or hers to mine, or whatever, remember we're all totally, respectfully different. Yes, there is just one in there.
