A would-be bank robber’s heist went wrong in explosive fashion in Australia recently.
Police in Darwin have released CCTV footage of the failed robbery, in which a man tried to rob an ATM by blowing it up.
The man planted the explosives on the ATM in the early hours of Christmas Eve, before it blows up in his face and knocks the bungling burglar clean off his feet.
The thief is then seen stumbling to his feet and running away, leaving his flip slops in his wake beside the damaged machine.
Alarms were activated after the explosion led to a fire inside the machine.
Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said in a statement “The fire was eventually extinguished but not before quite a bit of damaged occurred.”
“It does not appear as if anything has been stolen or the premises unlawfully entered.”
