Ladies, let’s talk Fifty Shades of Grey. The movie. Yes, believe it or not, the novel chocked-full of mummy-porn has been snapped up by one of those companies that makes films.
And of course, given the scandal that’s currently surrounding it, there’s been a lot of talk about who is going to take up the lead male role in the film adaptation.
Just in case you haven’t read the book yet and don’t know what we’re talking about, here’s a brief summary of the main male character:
Christian Grey is the 27 year old CEO of a huge company. He’s tall, dark and has fantastic hair. Oh and we can’t forget his amazing grey eyes (which are mentioned in the book, like, every two seconds). He’s also into kinky, BDSM-style sex and dominating virginal college students. Well…whatever tickles your fancy…
So far there have been a slew of rumours about various male actors who have been cast for the part (Ryan Gosling and Chris Hemsworth being just two). The latest actor to be rumoured to step into Christian Grey’s incredibly-kinky shoes? Why it’s our very own Cillian Murphy.
For weeks, fans of the Cork-born actor have been demanding that Cillian be considered for the part. And to be honest, we can sort of see why. He’s tall, dark and handsome like the main character. Sure all he’d have to do is stick in a pair of grey contacts and he’d be sorted.
“I haven’t read the book,” Cillian recently admitted to the Wall Street Journal.
“I know everyone’s talking about it. The thing is, it’s kind of random how you get jobs, you know?” he said.
However, the Irish Independent reports that Cillian has said if there’s a script and a director attached to the project then he’ll happily have a read and see what it’s all about.
“You just read the script. If you like it, you like it,” he concluded.
So Cillian Murphy might play the part of a BDSM-obsessed businessman, but only if he gets a script and if he likes it. Fair enough. We’re glad he cleared that up for us.
Okay women, over to you – who would be your ultimate pick for Christian Grey?
