Instead of dressing her daughter up as a Disney princess for her fifth birthday, Jamie Moore decided to show her daughter the vast amount of potential that was ahead of her by dressing her up as some of the most influential women from history.
Jamie, who is a photographer from Texas, wrote on her website that dressing her five-year-old daughter Emma up as a Disney princess was “an unrealistic fantasy” that most girls her age had. Instead she decided to take pictures of Emma emulating some of the most admirable women of all time.
“My daughter wasn’t born into royalty,” wrote Jamie.
“But she was born into a country where she can now vote, become a doctor, a pilot, an astronaut, or even President if she wants and that’s what REALLY matters,” she added.
Jame chose five women simply because the number corresponds with her daughter’s age, however she was keen to stress that “there are thousands of unbelievable women (and girls) who have beat the odds and fought (and still fight) for their equal rights all over the world.”
Jamie said that she wanted Emma to learn about women who “without ever meeting” her have “changed her life for the better.”
Well said Jamie, well said.
