On Saturday night we saw her impress the judges with her first audition but last night Melanie McCabe pulled out all the stops for the live audience.
The Dubliner sang Titanium by David Guetta featuring Sia in the hope of getting through to boot camp and that’s exactly what she did.
The 19-year-old student, who has entered the singing competition three times previously, not only got a standing ovation from the crowd but four yes votes from the panel.
Judge Sharon Osbourne said: “I don’t know what went on with you and this show before, I wasn’t here and I don’t care. I think you’re sensational.”
Louis Walsh, who got quite emotional during Melanie’s first audition, added: “I wanted you to be so good today... I think you’re star, and it’s not just because you’re from Dublin.”
Sure Louis, whatever you say. (For the record we thought she was incredible too but let’s face it, Louis does have a tendency to back his own no matter what they’re like.)
Also through to boot camp are Jade Richards, Shelley Smith, Barclay Beales, Abi Alton and Relley Clarke.
