The seventh row of the periodic table has finally been completed, with the introduction of four new elements.
The elements, which have yet to be named, were discovered by scientists based in Japan, Russia and America.

The Guardian reports that this is the first change to the periodic table since 2011, when elements 114 and 116 were introduced.
The news, made official by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), means that every science book (and shower curtain) in the world is now out of date.
