Chris O’Dowd’s new laugh-out loud show Moone Boy, hit our screens on Sky1 last weekend but the actor revealed he was shocked to see that telly regulators had rated the show only suitable for those 15 and over.
The Irish Censorship Board and the British Board of Film Classifications landed the new comedy, set in the west of Ireland, into the over 15s category because of its difficult themes.
However, Chris revealed that he was disappointed with the decision because he hoped that Moone Boy could entertain the whole family.
“I thought it was a very family-orientated show. 15s is the same as CSI and Inbetweeners where there’s full on murders and stuff.

Chris O'Dowd's new show Moone Boy debuted last weekend
“I don’t know if saying B-O-O-B-S is the same as that. I think it’s very warm and there has to be an essence when it’s a show where the main character is a kid and it’s the same for kids so it’s a shame," he told The Irish Sun.
The actor tweeted his fans last night, and asked them if they thought the rating was appropriate.
“Serious Q for parents- #MooneBoy DVD just got given a 15 cert (same as CSI Miami). What do you find unacceptable for your children to watch?”

The actor stars in the comedy, which is loosely based on his childhood in Boyle in 1989. The show follows the small town adventures of Martin Moone and his imaginary friend, who is played by Chris.
