Gardaí have arrested a 20-year-old woman in connection with the false report of an alleged rape in Dublin city.
The Brazilian native reported to Gardaí that three males had attacked her as she walked through Cabra Park in Phibsborough on Sunday August 24th.
Detailed descriptions of two of the alleged attackers were issued to the public.
According to RTÉ, Mountjoy Garda Station detectives investigating the claims arrested the woman today and charged her with making a false report after discovering that the incident never took place.
The woman had told authorities that she was making her way to work in a in a Dublin City Centre takeaway when the men approached her, claiming that one man held her down while another raped her. She said a third man watched but he then fled the scene.
The woman is due to appear before Dublin Criminal Courts and is currently being detained at Mountjoy Garda Station.
