What makes you feel sexy? According to a new survey, a pair of killer heels, a slick of red lipstick and a decent push up bra are just some of the things that give us a major confidence boost.

The survey, which was conducted by online underwear shop Boux Avenue, discovered that having smooth legs, putting on new underwear and receiving a compliment from a man or a fellow woman were the top three things that give most women a boost in the confidence department.

Freshly painted finger nails, putting our hair up and sipping on a glass of expensive wine are just some of the other things that made the cut.

“It’s amazing that the most subtle changes can transform a woman into feeling sexy. High heels and red lipstick predictably have an effect on how we look, feel, and act, but people tend to underestimate the power that new underwear can have on a woman, despite the fact very few people will actually see it,” said Lisa Bond, a spokeswoman for Boux Avenue.

“Dressing up by wearing nice underwear, a fabulous dress and a spritz of perfume can really make you feel special,” she added.

The survey found that 80 per cent of women turn to their trusty stilettos when it comes to making them feel good about themselves. Why high heels? Well the women questioned admitted that heels made them feel instantly appealing and slimmer, which in turn made them feel more confident.

More than half of us admitted that we always feel better when our hair and make-up is done and a dedicated one in 20 of us consciously make the effort to be sexy every single day.
