Last week we learnt that Adnan Syed had been granted a post-conviction hearing.
It began yesterday and fans of the podcast series will be delighted to hear that Sarah Koenig and producer Dana will discuss what happens during it on a day by day basis.
As we all know, or should know at this stage, Adnan Syed was cast into the public limelight not solely because he was convicted of the murder of his ex-girlfriend but because of a podcast series, Serial.
After Syed was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, a reporter, Sarah Koenig, created the podcast Serial. If you haven’t listened to it already, you should, it’s brilliant.
It takes a look back at the trial, speaks to key witnesses and family members trying to solve the case and figure out if Adnan really was guilty of committing the crime or if he is telling the truth when he says he’s innocent.
Adnan was granted a hearing which means that new evidence will be brought to light. One key part which was left out of the first trial was that Adnan’s friend Asia can supply an alibi for Adnan. She said on the podcast that she had spoken with Adnan in the library at the time the murder took place.
Asia took to the stand yesterday and has been dubbed as ‘a big piece of the puzzle’ in a bid to prove once and for all that Adnan is not guilty.
