An otter named Eddie has taken the internet by storm after his handler made a little video about his hidden talent. You see Eddie isn’t just any ordinary sea otter – he can actually play basketball.
Eddie, who is a permanent resident at the Oregon Zoo, was diagnosed with arthritis in his elbows. Not wanting Eddie to suffer with the painful condition, his handler had to come up with a unique way to stretch out his muscles and ease the stiffness in his joint.
Sea otters usually only live up to the age of 20 and Eddie is already 16, which means he’s pretty much a pensioner in the sea otter world.
The good news is that he absolutely loves shooting hoops with his keeper, Jenny DeGroot, although this is probably because he gets a treat every time he manages to get the ball through the hoop.
Eddie was rescued by the zoo back in 2000 after he was abandoned on the coast of California as a pup.
Since he started playing basketball, Eddies condition has improved and he’s healthy and happy. Aww.
