A new wrist band to measure the level of sun exposure while you’re sun-bathing may well be one of the best inventions we’ve heard of in a long time.
The wrist band, which helps to warn against sunburn, slowly changes colour as you are more and more exposed to the sun.
As the colour changes, it gives the user ample warning that it is time to get out of the sun.
“We have just started a company and plan to develop it,” said inventor Dr David Hazafy of Queen’s University Belfast.
“On the side of the band, there will be a colour code so you know how much time you have left before getting out of the sun.”
The band uses a kind of “smart ink” which is designed to react to the sun’s ultraviolet lift.
It is set to retail at approximately €7.
