Heading To The Galway Races? Check Out What’s Going On In The City

The countdown is on to one of the highlights of the Irish summer calendar. There’s just one week to go until the Galway Races kicks off in style. Ballybrit will spring to life with the thunder of hooves, the roars of the crowd and the glitz and glamour of Ladies’ Day. 

This year the festival takes place from Monday 27th July to Sunday 2nd August. and the line-up of entertainment and events around the City of the Tribes looks better than ever before.

Ladies’ Day is the most important day of the week, with a whole host of competitions to enter both on and off the race course.

Head to the g Hotel to take part in the popular Best Hat competition to be in with a chance of winning a spectacular bespoke hat by master milliner, Philip Treacy.

The beautiful hat up for grabs is described by the man himself as a “beret in parisisal with extended ornate buntal ribbons.”

And make sure your date for the day is looking sharp – the g Hotel will also be rewarding the Most Stylish Man in the building, with Galway GAA star Ollie Canning and Connacht Rugby star, Michael Swift on board to help select the winner.

The lucky winner will receive a brand spanking new Louis Copeland suit along with two tickets to an Irish International rugby match.

The g Hotel will also be hosting its annual Tipster Brunch on Wednesday 29th & Thursday 30th July from 10.30am – 12.30 noon.

National Hunt Jockey Davy Russell & race horse trainer Gordon Elliott will be on hand offer their top tips for the day of racing ahead.
