Her Hero Of The Week… We’ll Not Lie, We Cried

This left us a little speechless.

Her

Ever wondered where all the good men are gone? Or where are all the gods? So have we.

It’s that time of the week again, ladies…

This week’s #HerHeroOfTheWeek is very special for a number of reasons.

We received an email on Friday that caught each member of the team completely off guard.

When we come into work, each one of us gives 100%, and as individuals we all bring a different dynamic to the group. Throughout the each day we share laughs, jokes and sometimes tears. This next email was one of those times that as a team, we had a collective lump in our throat.

A dedicated reader sent in a very special email to explain that she felt compelled to thank us for all that we’ve done for her over the past 6 weeks. “I generally don’t do things like this but I feel I need to for some strange reason,” the message began.

There are very few times where one of us will have a difficultly trying to find words to express how we feel, but on this occasion we were left speechless, and of course, we all shared a few tears.

Hi Her.ie!

I generally don’t do things like this but I feel I need to for some strange reason.

I just want to thank you and all your staff for doing what you do. Over the past 6 weeks I have not put down my phone due to your App/Facebook Page/Website. I’m addicted!! It has helped me so much, from forcing tears that I have been scared to shed to laughing so much I hurt my chest.

6 weeks ago I underwent a double mastectomy due to an illness I’ve been fighting for the past 6 years. I’ll be 23 years of age in June of this year. It’s been hard, I’m the youngest person my surgeon has ever preformed a mastectomy on and I do not have the BRCA gene or Cancer so theres not a lot of support out there for me. You’ve made my recovery so much easier and I hope you realise how much people like me need that on a daily basis, the fact you’re Irish is an absolute bonus. Keep up the great work!

So thank you all again for being my crutch even though you didn’t know it. If I could hug you all I would but I can’t hug yet so sending air hugs!

Kind Regards,

Your dedicated reader.

We felt the need to share this with the rest of the dedicated Her.ie following to say THANK YOU for all your support, the likes, shares, retweets and comments. Yesterday marked the annual International Women’s Day and we couldn’t think of a better candidate for this week’s #HerHero than this incredible young women, you’re an inspiration.

Sending you some air hugs back!

Do you know a HERO?

Ladies, every week we will select one complete gentleman to be Her Hero, not without your help of course…

How can you help? Send an image of someone you think is an absolute hero, and if we agree, your entry will get a very deserving and coveted place.

He doesn’t have to be fast, he doesn’t necessarily have to be brave, or have ever been involved in a fight in his life… but it may help.

The picture can be anything, a nice gesture from your boyfriend (providing you have one), a text from your Dad or friend, or even someone lovely you happen to meet on the street. Surprise us!

Send your potential Her Heroes to [email protected] or use the #HerHeroOfTheWeek on Twitter.

Until next week…
