It’s that time of the week again, ladies…
This week’s #HerHeroOfTheWeek was an easy choice and goes to the incredible Moriarty family.
Her.ie reader Joanna Murphy contacted us to nominate Jerry, Breege, Vera, Peter, Marie, Niall, Arlene, John Paul, Fiona, and Olivia for a very special reason.
In November the Moriarty’s lost their Dad to cancer in just four short weeks after he was admitted to hospital with stomach pains. In a bid to raise much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society they decided to take on The Sneem JFK Challenge, a 50mile stretch that starts and ends in Sneem village on the Ring of Kerry, in his memory.
The loop walk involves national, secondary, regional and minor roads with three gradual inclines and is to be completed in less than 20 hours.
The challenge began yesterday at 5am and the three brothers, three sisters and their partners and was the 80km was completed in the early hours of this morning.
The Moriarty’s set themselves a €1,000 target however have exceeded that was together have raised just under €10,000.
“They are amazing people and it’s an amazing feat,” Joanna writes and we can’t argue with that.
