With the final days of 2013 dwindling down, we've turned our attentions to New Year's Eve, and how we plan to celebrate. In turn, we had a chat about some of our best New Year's memories, so we've collected them here to provide you with some inspiration for December 31st!

We've all once suffered from the heart condition known as 'puppy love'. When I was 16-years-old I spent New Year's Eve in a local nightclub feeling sorry for myself as my young love attended a black-tie wedding in a function room across the road. In a bid to avoid spending the countdown alone and dodge the toilet queues, I ran into the ladies to freshen up. When I eventually made it back out into the main room, I was met by a friend, who seemed pretty angry and agitated, shouting at me: "Where were you? He's here! We've been looking you." It was then the crowd parted, and like a scene from one of those cheesy rom-coms, there stood my 17-year-old prince charming, in a tux, waiting to give me a New Year's Eve kiss.
Moral of the story: Never leave the ladies toilets... It ended badly.
Sue's Pick:
One particular year, myself and my Dad were pretty sick with the flu for NYE. I was about 18 at the time and of course, I really wanted to go out for NYE. Unfortunately, I was too ill to go anywhere but the evening turned out really well when me and my family all sat on the couch under blankets for the NYE countdown with my Mom giving us hot drinks. It was one of the best New Year's I had, even though it wasn't the original plan.

One stand out memory for me is being in the house on New Year's Eve as a child and hiding away from the relatives who would shower me with kisses at midnight! I found the perfect spot behind and inside the piano that I wasn't spotted for hours - in fact it got to a stage where they were going to put out a search party to track me down!
Rebecca's Pick:
When I was younger my family used to always celebrate New Year’s Eve with my aunt and uncle and there’s one in particular that always sticks in my mind. It was the millennium one and I remember sitting down with everyone to watch Mystic Meg reading out her lottery predictions (although half the world thought there was little point). I also got a five-pound coin that night which I still have to this day. While some might think that’s not a very eventful New Year’s Eve, it always sticks in my mind and I like the fact that as a child, the most exciting thing about the night is that you can stay up past midnight!
Cathy's Pick:
New Year's Eve is always a big event but one of the years that sticks out for me is the year 2000, the big Millenium. Although I was only 12 it's something I'll always remember ,we had a big party with all of my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. A bittersweet memory to look back on now as neither of my Nanas are here anymore...but it's a happy memory too of an enjoyable occasion.
Michelle's Pick:
My best New Year's Ever celebration was the December after my J1 summer. I'd made some wonderful friends that year while spending three great months in New York. For New Year's, we headed up to Donegal for a big reunion party. We celebrated on the street at midnight with the whole town coming out to sing Auld Lang Syne arm in arm. It was so much fun, and a feeling I've never replicated in a sweaty nightclub!
Make sure you've got a New Year's Eve to remember in store!
