Here are the proven luckiest places in Ireland to buy Lotto tickets

Feeling lucky this Bank Holiday weekend?

Tonight’s Euromillions is €70 million – which is just about an acceptable amount, I suppose – and Saturday’s Lotto jackpot is heading for €7 million.

And if you’re going to buy a ticket, we have some information that might increase your chances of winning.

The National Lottery has unveiled what it calls ” a proven roadmap of Ireland’s luckiest streets, winner hotspots and luckiest numbers when it comes to playing Lotto, EuroMillions or DailyMillion”.

The info is based on winner data for the first six months of 2016, during which time, a total of €258 million has been won – with €128 million bagged on Ireland’s top 10 luckiest streets alone.

Ireland’s luckiest street is Barrack Street, Co Carlow, where twice as much has been won than the next luckiest one, Station Road in Laois.

This is the breakdown of the top 1o luckiest streets, the venues where winning tickets were bought, and the amounts won for the first six months of 2016:

7. Fountain St, Co Waterford – Spar – €2,578,134
8. Limerick Rd, Ennis, Co Clare – Spar – €1,026,063
9. Drogheda St, Balrothery, Co Dublin – Gerry Andrews Spar – €1,000,000

The date shows that Dublin has the most winners – 25 – across Lotto, EuroMillions and DailyMillions, followed by Cork (11 winners so far in 2016), Wexford (7), Westmeath (6), Cavan (5), Mayo (5), Galway (4), Limerick (4), Donegal (4) and Laois (3).

What’s more, the number 14 has emerged as the luckiest number for those playing Lotto, while the number 10 was luckiest in EuroMillions draws.
