As rain continues to worsen all over the country, Met Eireann have released another weather warning - this time a status yellow rainfall alert for Cork, Kerry and Waterford.
According to the forecaster, between 25 and 30 mm of rainwater is expected, with families living in the Shannon catchment area warned that they are still on high flood risk.
Gerald Fleming, head of forecasting at Met Eireann said:
“In the week to come almost every day is going to bring some rain.
“At the moment none of it looks like serious warning, as in orange status warning or higher, but I would have to stress the accumulation of rain over the course of the next six or seven days will be above normal.”
“We are in a situation where a number of those rain events have the potential to turn nasty and potentially they could cause flooding in areas have had no flooding so far, if that were to happen.”
