Mexico City

While Mexico City can be a nightmare to get around, it just begs to be explored and will fascinate, entice and excite visitors. Take a trip to the relics of Teotihuacán. Be sure to head to Plaza Garibaldi for some top class mariachi.

Handy hint: Head to the Zócalo, the heart of the city. The plaza is surrounded by the beautiful cathedral and the ruins of the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlán.

Cancún 

One of the most famous resorts in the world, Cancún is a major destination for tourists and honeymooners alike with stunning beaches.

Handy hint: Be sure to go snorkeling and scuba diving!

Tequila

And no, not just the drink. Visit the town that gave the famous beverage its name. Explore the town and marvel at its fields of blue agave.

Handy hint: Take a day trip and be sure to tour the local distilleries for a sample!

For A Margarita... A traditional margarita contains two shots of tequila which is approximately 170 kcals and as it’s a sour based cocktail doesn’t contain any added sugar.

Tulum

An important centre of Mayan culture, Tulum boasts an amazing beach and some pretty breathtaking views.

Handy hint: Book yourself into a simple cabana and sit back and relax.

Copper Canyon

Explore the Canyon with the Chihuahua al Pacifico Railway which will weave its way over 37 bridges and 86 tunnels, soaring 2,400 meters above sea level.

Handy hint: Bag a window seat and prepare to be amazed.

Chichén Itzá

Perhaps the most famous of the Maya sites, these sprawling ruins and amazing carvings will leave you in awe.

Handy hint: You will definitely need a couple of days to explore this!

Oaxaca City

The city of Oaxaca is known for having one of the best Día de Los Muertos festival in Mexico. Be sure to visit in October.

Handy hint: Make sure to visit the markets too!

Acapulco

A favourite back in the day with Hollywood stars, Acapulco is still a big hit with holidaymakers.

Handy hint: Make sure to stop off to watch the cliff drivers.

Another popular destination for tourists, Los Cabos is at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. If you find life too hectic there for you, head down to San José del Cabo.

The grimy underbelly and more violent aspects of Mexico cannot be ignored, and though Mexico is generally relatively safe for tourists, it is wise to keep with groups and take precautions.

Other hot spots to visit include Palenque, party in Playa del Carmen, chill out at San Cristóbal de las Casas, buy silver in Taxco and discover the wildlife of Mexico at Sian Ka’an Bioshpere Reserve
