Homeless Corkman Reunited With Family In Time For Christmas Following Viral Facebook Post

This will warm your heart.

Considering Christmas is a time for family and loved ones, this story has made our day.

In recent weeks, the homeless crisis has really hit home to many, but for one Corkman his life has been turned around after a short interview he did with the Humans of Ireland Facebook page.

George Cunningham has been living without a permanent residence in Kinsale, Cork when he was approached by photographer Lee Furlong to share his story.

Speaking to Furlong, George said his one Christmas wish was “finding a place to have a Christmas dinner. If I could find a B&B that’d include a Christmas dinner I’d pay the money.”

George’s story was shared on the art project’s Facebook page, and it has since gone viral, with people offering the Corkman a spot at their table for Christmas dinner and a play to stay.

The one response George didn’t expect was from his family, who tracked him down after seeing the post.

George’s sister Sheelagh contacted the photographer and said that she hadn’t seen her brother in 12 years, but was actively searching for him in order to plan a family reunion this Christmas.

Speaking to Sky News, photographer Lee said he had no contact information for George, but with the help of some local people in Kinsale, he was able to track him down.

And with all Christmas stories, there is of course a happy ending. George was reunited with his sister, and will enjoy a family Christmas dinner in Ballybrack, Dublin this year.

Hat-tip to our lovely brothers over at JOE.ie for this one!
