What’s the first thing you do when you check into a hotel room? A new survey has revealed our most common habits once we check in and dump our suitcases by the door. Let’s just say it makes for interesting reading…
According to the survey, which was conducted by Hotels.com, one in five men immediately make a beeline for the TV remote control so they can check out what kind of adult channels the hotel has on offer (naughty, naughty!).
And while 15 per cent of women join their other halves and also have a gawk at what raunchy films are playing, the vast majority head straight to the bathroom to inspect the toiletries provided by the hotel.
But the most common ritual performed by both men and women is to pause for a few minutes and take in the view from the window.

Do you unpack your bag first or check out the view?
Other hotel habits include jumping on the bed, hitting the gym, raiding the minibar and using the bathroom. We have to admit, some of the Her.ie team are guilty of leaping on the bed and scoping out the chocolate supplies in the near vicinity as soon as we’ve deposited our bags on the floor.
“It appears that men and women have very different priorities when it comes to their hotel rituals, with men preferring to see the full selection of TV channels and women more likely to check out the toiletries on offer,” said Kate Hopcraft, a spokeswoman for Hotels.com.
