Pet names. When it comes to relationships, they’re something that every couple has. These names are like a special code, you use them in private and you pretend that they don’t exist when you’re in public.
With that being said though, you simply can’t deny that it makes you smile whenever you hear that special name uttered by your other half.
So it turns out that ‘babe’ or ‘baby’ is now officially the most popular pet name that couples use for each other.
According to the poll, which was conducted by online adult store Lovehoney.co.uk, one in eight couples refer to each other as ‘love’ or ‘lovey’ while 11 per cent use the traditional ‘darling.’
Other popular pet names included ‘cuddles,’ ‘sweetheart,’ ‘doll,’ ‘pudding’ and, for whatever reason, ‘stinky.’ (Nice, right?).

What do you call your other half?
The findings of the survey show that pet names have changed a lot over the last 25 years. Before, ‘darling’ was the most popular name you could give your other half, but its popularity has taken a major nose dive.
The popularity of ‘baby’ as a pet name seems to be down to the phenomenon that is Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James. Apparently the term has seen an increase in use ever since Christian Grey uttered the infamous “laters, baby” to Anastasia Steele in the raunchy read.
“The ways pet names have changed over the years show we are getting even more affectionate towards each other and a little less formal,” said Neal Slateford, the co-founder of Lovehoney.
The top 10 most popular pet names were:
1. Babe (baby)
2. Love (lovely)
3. Darling
4. Sweetie
5. Sweetheart
6. Gorgeous
7. Cuddles
8. Doll
9. Pudding
10. Stinky
