We cannot wait.

We cannot wait.

The Christmas show at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre was confirmed last month and we were delighted when we hear it would be Big, The Musical.

Irish audiences will be the first to have the opportunity to witness this spectacular musical before it opens in London’s West End next year.

This December, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre will host the European premiere of the show, opening on December 7th 2016 until January 7th, 2017. It will bring to life the magic of one of the best-loved movies of all time, Big.

The first cast member was revealed as Jay McGuiness, from The Wanted, who will play the lead role made famous by Tom Hanks in the 1988 movie. But we have just found out who will star alongside him and there are some huge names.

Added to the cast are Denise Van Outen as Mrs Baskin, Diana Vickers as Susan Lawrence and Gary Wilmot as George MacMillan with The Hoosiers star Irwin Sparkes as Paul.

It will be brought to Ireland for the first time by producer Michael Rose, who has had multiple previous successes at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre with productions such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Elf, The Musical.

Speaking about the news show Michael said: “I am so excited to bring this show to Dublin for the first time, it’s a universally appealing story peppered with beautiful songs, stunning sets, tremendous choreography and an all-star cast – it couldn’t get much BIGGER than this for Christmas.”
