Rebecca McKnight

Having a lazy Sunday? Kick back, pour yourself a cuppa and enjoy Team Her.ie’s favourite reads of the week.

Liz’s Choice: I Like to Move It, Move It

Liz says: I love Dirty Dancing. I love the music, I love the dance routines and I adore the story line. Clearly NOONE puts Baby in the corner, and for good reason. So when this legend of an eight-year old popped up having SELF-TAUGHT himself the finale routine… well let’s just say I’m in awe. He’s fantastic and if I ever have a child I’m signing him for salsa lessons.

Why can’t I shake my hips this well? Sigh. It’ll just have to be played on repeat.

Cathy’s Choice:

Cathy says: I’m easily scared, very easily in fact, so ghost stories or clowns or you get the idea, tend to freak me out A LOT. The below story is an interesting one though, initially whe I looked at the photo I couldn’t see anything and it was only after taking a second look that I properly noticed the seriously creepy image in the background. EEEEEEEEEK.

Michelle’s Choice: Sisters, Doin’ It For Themselves

Michelle says: As the proud owner of two younger sisters and one older brother, I’ve been through the sibling wars more times than I can count. At the end of the day, they can be the most annoying people on the planet, but at the same time your greatest ally. So, I had a lot of fun compiling this list of the things only a sister can get away with. This one goes out with love to Laura and Sharon. Now, give me my top back.

Rebecca’s Choice: Merry Friggin’ Christmas

Rebecca says: As a huge fan of Robin Williams and everything related to Christmas, this glimpse of Merry Friggin’ Christmas is my favourite story this week. Even just those few minutes have put in the festive mood and I reckon this film (like Home Alone and While You Were Sleeping) could become an annual tradition.

Grace’s Choice: Gone GAA GAA

Grace says: When it comes to hidden cameras shows, it goes without saying that The Fear on RTÉ 2 is the best on television. Hilary Rose is back as straight-faced Garda Karen Doyle and this time she is on the look out for counterfeit GAA jerseys. Yes, you read that correctly. Dressed in official gear, Rose set-up outside this year’s All-Ireland Hurling Final, where one Tipperary supporter was in for a surprise. “It’s not the official colour…” Fair play to all involved, this is brilliant!

Marie’s Choice:

Marie says: Whether you love them or loathe them, we’ve all done our time in an Irish nightclub. If our hard-partying years have taught us anything, it’s that there are a few things you will DEFINITELY encounter so I loved this homage to the simple pleasures of Maniac 2000 and bathroom selfies!
