If You Feel Your Labia Is “Too Big” This Little-Known Fact Will Be Of Interest

Labiaplasties are growing in popularity.

Let’s talk about our labia…

Because a big part of the problem lies in the fact that we DON’T talk about them, and therefore have a skewed idea of what’s normal.

In case you don’t know, your labia are the flaps of skin or “lips” on either side of your clitoris.

They vary HUGELY from woman to woman, there really is no one-size fits all, yet we have been fed an aesthetic that we deem “perfect”, fuelled by unrealistic pornography.

Labiaplasties (surgery to have your lips reduced) are growing in popularity, with many feeling that their labia are too big.

However, it is a little known fact that as you age, your labia size can greatly reduce naturally.

Fahimeh Sasan, doctor of osteopathy, an assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai told Women’s Health:

“As you get older, it’s totally normal to notice some subtle changes down there.

“The major one: Due to a decrease in the hormone estrogen, your labia shrink after menopause. Don’t be shocked if things look a little slimmer in your 20s, too.

“As you exit puberty and begin to age, subcutaneous fat—the kind just beneath the skin—decreases (yep, even in your lady parts).”

While we think all sizes are beautiful, seeing as so many young women are thinking about labiaplasties, this might be something to keep in mind.
