People are getting very annoyed about a picture of a pillowcase featuring the word ‘housewife’.
The packaging of the pillowcase in question features the word housewife and it has received a huge reaction on Twitter.
The image was uploaded by Unity Blott with the caption: “What colour should I buy my pillowcases in – “Oxford” or “Housewife”? @sainsburys @EverydaySexism #isthisreal”

The supermarket chain was quick to respond saying that housewife is the standard name for the style of pillowcase.
@UnityBlott Hi there, this is the generic name for this style. Chris.

@UnityBlott @sainsburys @EverydaySexism Aren’t they styles of case? One has a frill. But you’re right. House wife is a tad old school!

Oxford is the name given to pillowcases with a flap on the edge and Housewife is the one without a flap.
It seems that some people think the term ‘housewife’ is outdated but others don’t see what the big deal is.
@UnityBlott @sainsburys @EverydaySexism Point out to me what is so bad about this please?
