There’s nothing that appeals to the child in us like an unintentional “naughty” word.
We used to get a great kick out of the movie title Free Willy, and LOVED singing Richie Kavanagh’s Aon FOCail at the top of our lungs without getting in trouble.
It didn’t stop when we got to secondary school, and the fact that the French word for “seal” was “phoque” provided endless entertainment.
Well, looks like we haven’t done much growing up since then, as the title of this French Rugby magazine, spotted on JOE.ie, has got us right in the funny bone.
While the word “tampon” is obviously not naughty per say… it still gave us a giggle.
Because we are just that immature.
The newest (and best) French rugby magazine has just arrived. As for the name, Tampon means big tackle in French pic.twitter.com/L3FEBoKqa8

Apparently, “tampon” means “tackle” in French. Joyful.
