We are all guilty of taking a lot of things in life for granted, simple things that some people would give just about anything to have for even a few moments.
It is difficult to see any person become ill, however having to watch a young child lying sick in a hospital bed is the worst.
When we hear of an innocent child ill or worse, dying, we question life, “Why them? How could this happen? They have their whole life ahead of them.” It forces us to reevaluate our trivial everyday worries and put things into perspective.
While we can’t do anything to change the past we can certainly help with the future and that’s where the Jack & Jill Foundation comes in.
The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation provides direct funding, to families of children with brain damage who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, enabling them to purchase home respite care. These are children who as a result of their condition require intensive home nursing care.

Jack and Jill nurse Anne with little Richard Flanagan.
This video tells the story of Anne Reilly, a Jack and Jill nurse to Brigid Flanagan and her son Richard who she met when he was only a few weeks old. Anne has since grown to become apart of the Flanagan family, and Brigid credits Anne with helping her bring her baby home.

Brigid credits Anne with helping take her son home.
The most poignant part of the video is this ending message: In 1920’s Ireland there was no entitlement to support in the home for parents of children with severe brain damage. In 2013, there still isn’t.
You can text “WE CARE” to 50300 to donate €4 (less than the price of a pint) and 100% of your €4 donation will go to The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, so you know your money will be going to someone who deserves it.
It’s an extremely worthwhile cause and every single donation helps. For more check out the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation website here.
