Do you have what it takes?

The Defence Forces are breaking new ground after becoming the first military in the world to create a first-person interactive video as part of their latest recruitment campaign.

The video uses a real soldier avatar to fully immerse game players in the reality of becoming a soldier conducting a joint land, sea and air assault and it’s pretty gripping stuff.

The footage looks exactly like a first-person shooter video game, except the action is very real (and very intense).

It’s an innovative move which seems to have paid off because the Defence Forces have managed to attract 4,000 applicants to date. You can check out a brief snippet of the new video below or play A New Dawn on their interactive website now.

This is the second video launched by the Defence Forces in this year’s recruitment campaign. The first one, which you can see below, gives you an insight into the work of our Army, Air Corps and Naval Service.

As you might expect, there are opportunities to become a Reconnaissance Soldier, Physical Training Instructor and the Commander of an 18.5 tonne Armoured Personnel Carrier, but what many people do not realise is that there are also roles in many other areas including Communications Technicians, Medics and Naval Divers.

For many people, a job in the Defence Forces provides a chance to make a difference; doing work that really matters in some of the world’s most volatile regions.

If a career in the Defence Forces is something that you would be interested in you can apply and find out more information here.
