Irish model Kelly Horrigan shows us around her minimalist new house

Cassie Stokes

Simple is on trend this year.

The less the better, especially when it comes to interior design in your house.

This week’s episode of Interior Motives sees us visit Irish model Kelly Horrigan’s new house in Dublin.

Kelly has modelled for countless events and ads here in Ireland. She has also spent a lot of time in Italy where she’s in high demand having already fronted some top campaigns.

Having recently moved into a new build with her boyfriend Steve, Kelly has had free run of the place when it came to styling her new home and making the space her own.

“We basically got a blank canvas to work on,” she says.

“Before, this room was a concrete shell. Then we got the kitchen, the colour, the handles, the tiles, and all the little extras. We watched it come to life.”

When it came to their inspiration Kelly admits to being a minimalist.

“I love simplicity, clean lines, not a lot of colour and keeping it very neutral,” she says. “Steve is the exact same.

“We kept within that vibe in the house but we threw in a lot of wood and some greenery too, just to keep a bit earthy and more homey.”

Like many others, Kelly loves spending most of her time in the kitchen.

“[It’s]definitely my favourite room of the house,” she says. “It’s the most homely. Everyone gathers here, and we do all our cooking.”

“My favourite part of the kitchen would have to be the tiles, I love that these are a little bit different, they’re all slightly different tones and shapes.”

Another stunning feature in her kitchen is the tap, again sticking with the minimalist vibes. “It was actually a housewarming gift from my sister, so I love it,” she says.
