Irish Netflix customers face a price increase today

Emma lahiffe

Important news for long-time Netflix users.

Remember those price increases announced by the streaming giant at the end of last year? Well, today they’re coming into effect for Irish customers subscribed to the service.

Customers who have been paying €6.99 a month will now be charged a monthly fee of €9.99.

The price increase, which was delayed as a ‘thank you’ to early adopters of the service, wasn’t expected to come into effect until August.

Do we need to get Frank on the case here?

The price hike is being implemented to help fund new upcoming Netflix content.

Membership is still available for Irish customers from €7.99 per month for a one stream, standard defintion package.

If you’re preparing for a weekend of binge-watching your favourite show, take a look at the most binge-worthy shows as ranked by Netflix itself. The shows we are more likely to ‘savor’ are House of Cards and Bloodline, while shows like Sense8Orphan Black, The 100, The Walking Dead and The Fall are shows we would ‘devour’.

Or if you’re on the hunt for a new show, check out some of the latest releases on Netflix, including Chelsea, Bloodline season 2, and a whole lot more.
