Irish Place Names Are Being Omitted From Clothing Designs And It Has To Stop

Paris. Berlin. New York. Letterfrack.

Ciara Knight

Like most respectable Irish people, I was in Penneys at the weekend.

It came to my attention that a particular fashion trend at the moment is comprised of a luxurious place name embroidered on the front of a garment. For example, a jumper with ‘Paris’ in a fancy font beside the Eiffel Tower, or a t-shirt that says ‘L.A.’ atop a sunset.

This got me thinking. Why aren’t there Irish place names on clothes? Are they not fancy enough? Do they not allude to luxury? Let’s see.
