Irish Teacher Turned Down for Work Abroad Because of the “Alcoholism Nature of Your Kind”

Rebecca McKnight

Given the numbers of qualified teachers without waiting job posts in Ireland, it comes as no surprise that in recent years our young education graduates have spread their wings and taken up posts across the globe.

If you’re in search of a teaching job, though, South Korea might be one place to skip.

The brief response reads: “I am sorry to inform you that my client does not hire Irish people due to the alcoholism nature of your kind. Best of luck in future.”
