A woman from Longford was offered a refund of just 65p after finding her cereal bar was full of hair.
Marie Ward, who lives in Coventry, was tucking into the bar one night when she got a rather unpleasant surprise.
She told the
Coventry Telegraph: “I bought the cereal bars the week before after my mum recommended them to me and one night I was tucking into one while in bed. I took a bite and found a hair in my mouth, but I thought maybe it was just one of my own.
“I had another bite and found my mouth was full of fur, so I ran into the bathroom to spit it out. I had a proper look and the bar was just full of hair. Obviously when it was made somehow the hair got into it. I was sick all night and then again in the morning.”
When Marie went into her local Sainsbury’s to tell them about what she had found, they only offered her a refund worth the price of the bar. The manager then said they could send it off for analysis.
A spokesperson for the retail brand explained: “Incidents like this are very rare and we would like to sincerely apologise to Mrs Ward for the inconvenience this has caused her.
“We always advise customers who are unhappy with any product to return it to the store… so we can give them a full refund and so that our product quality team can investigate any products that fall short of our high standards and take appropriate action.”
