Handsome, rugged good looks - that's what every woman wants in a potential partner, right? Well not if you're on the pill apparently.
According to a new study published in Psychoneuroendocrinology (the catchiest magazine title ever, no?) women who are on the pill prefer men with less-masculine features.
The study tested two groups of 18-24 year old women - one group who were taking the oral contraceptive pill and another who were not - and got both groups to alter images of male faces until they found them most attractive. Facial features like cheekbone prominence, jawline and face width could be manipulated on each image.
All the women who originally were not on the pill were tested twice - once when none of them were on the pill and again three months later after they had started taking oral contraceptives - and the scientists found that they too found the less-masculine faces more attractive when they were on the pill.

If you're on the pill, chances are you won't find men like Jon Hamm attractive
So what does this mean in real life? If you weren't on the pill when you met your other half and then start taking it mid-way through your relationship, will you suddenly start finding them less attractive?
Or, will the streets be brimming with single men with prominent chins, high cheekbones and strong jawlines, all desperate for a date?
Doesn't sound likely to us...
