Speaking to the Daily Gazette, the 16-year old said:
“I don’t want to go in the yearbook with the generic ‘I-look-like-everyone-else’ photo. I wanted a ‘He looks great. Only he would try that’ photo.”
Rodriguez, who originally was asking for 500 signatures to present his petition to the schoolboard was overwhelmed by the response of 4,000 supporters.
Unfortunately his efforts haven’t bagged him the new image, with school district spokeswoman Karen Corona telling Daily News:
“This photo won’t be a senior portrait but it can be in another area. We’re not trying to not allow him to be creative, but the senior portraits have a professional look. They’re all the same.”Explore more on these topics:
