The Andy Morgan Foundation was set up in 2011 with the aim to spread the message of HOPE to those who have lost someone to suicide and those suffering with depression.
The family and friends of a Northside father-of-three who took his own life three years ago came together and set up a foundation in his name for suicide awareness. Popular and outgoing Andy Morgan took his own life on New Year’s Eve 2010 to the utter devastation and shock of his partner Joanne, his three children and many friends.
In the three years since his death, Joanne and Andy’s friends have focused their efforts and emotions towards ensuring others don’t have to go through what they’ve experienced.
On Sunday, they released a video of Andy's 10-year-old daughter, Alex, who spoke out openly and honestly about the death of her father and how it has impacted her. Alex also urged families to speak openly about suicide if it has affected them.
Since then, Alex has appeared on Ireland Am along with her mother Joanne to speak about the overwhelming response to the video.
Following on from that, people have begun to show their support for Alex online, posting pictures along with the hashtag #isupportalex. This is one cause that everyone should be involved in.
