It’s brought us laughs, it’s brought us some brilliant one liners and of course, it’s brought us thousands of Irish mammy jokes but now it looks like this year’s Christmas specials could mark the end of the road for popular TV show Mrs Brown’s Boys.

According to the Irish Sunday Mirror, Brendan O’Carroll’s son Danny has said that he believes that the two Christmas specials, which will air later this month, could in fact be the end of the popular show.

“As far as I know, I shouldn’t even be saying this, he (Brendan) said no, he’s not doing any more series and he’s not doing any more D’movies,” Danny told the newspaper.

The 31-year-old actor reportedly added that he believes some type of a spin-off from the popular show may be a possibility, which will be good news for fans of the show.

“Now, I’ve heard little things that he might be getting the itch to start writing again, so we’ll see, I don’t know,” Danny continued. “We’re not putting pressure on him, he’s a busy man and he works his ass off – but there’s loads of other stuff coming up and it’s quite exciting – other projects we’re going to be doing with the BBC which I can’t talk about.”
