Most people were in shock when it was revealed that Jimmy Bullard was going to be the first celebrity to leave I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! including the footballer himself.

In fact he has spoken out about how he believes he was unfairly represented, in particular during the exchange with Jake Quickenden which did appear to affect his popularity.

Jimmy told the Daily Star: “It was edited to make me look bad. If people had been allowed to see the real me, I would still be in there. It was a stitch-up.

“I’ve seen some clips and have seen how difference it has been shown. I’ve seen that Jake clip back. It was totally tongue-in-cheek, but the way it came across on TV was totally not how it came across in camp.”

Jimmy and Jake’s banter lost the former footballer more than a few votes.

He added: “Me and Jake are great friends and we’re going to be for a long time. It was total banter. Let me tell you, he gave as good as he took.

“Saying that, I can be a bit of a nightmare. I can see how it can come across as harsh for the punters to watch. But in our little bubble it was just banter.”

The 36-year-old also spoke out about his other mate in the jungle, Carl Fogarty. The pair developed such a close bond that the Superbike racer shed a few tears when he found out his friend was leaving.

Jimmy revealed: “When he broke down I was like, ‘Ah Fog, don’t do this to me on TV.’ I totally went. He’s a great friend and with Jake I’ve got two friends for life. I’d like either of them to win.”
