JK Rowling is not one of those authors that lets go of their work once it’s written.
It’s clear from the writer’s Twitter account that her attachment to the universe she created in the Harry Potter books has not decreased in the almost two decades since the first installment was published.
Rowling often has lively discussions and debates with fans about the fates of certain characters, and today was the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, so she had something pretty big to say.
As a writer, she seems to get very attached to certain characters and finds it hard to kill them off. This results in an apology. This time, it was Remus Lupin.
Once again, it’s the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts so, as promised, I shall apologise for a death. This year: Remus Lupin.

Interestingly, Rowling stated she hadn’t always planned on killing the much-loved character off, saying she came to the decision quite late:
In the interests of total honesty I’d also like to confess that I didn’t decide to kill Lupin until I wrote Order if the Phoenix.

Rowling was obviously attached to both Remus and Tonks, so was sad to think about what happened to their son, Teddy.
Arthur lived, so Lupin had to die. I’m sorry. I didn’t enjoy doing it. The only time my editor ever saw me cry was over the fate of Teddy. ?

Always one for interacting with fans, Rowling quoted one person putting their love for Lupin in simple terms.
The best tribute he could have. https://t.co/SwY6vlXVPu
