If you have an animal in your life, then you’ll know how quickly they become a part of the family. Yes, the vast majority of us would do anything for our furry friends and we’ll admit that this story completely melted our hearts.
Reddit user Turbo_Loadstone caused the image-sharing website to let out a collective ‘d’aww!’ when he posted pictures of a series of accessibility ramps that he made for his 13-year-old dachshund, George.
While Turbo describes himself as being a “sh***y carpenter” he decided that he had to do something to help his canine companion because George “has tiny legs and can’t jump like he used to.”
George slipped a disc in his back when he was just four years old and had to have surgery on his spine to correct the problem. Since then, George has had difficulty moving and his old age has been hindering him when it comes to getting around the house.
In order to stop George from hurting himself further, Turbo built the ramps in the hopes that they would help the dachshund to go about his business as usual without having to jump. Check it out:

Even George's doggy door has been given a ramp
Turbo said that George’s vet said it was common for older dachshunds to experience injuries from jumping up on things. When he heard this news he decided to do everything he could to make life easier for the dog.
“He [George] picked up using the ramps in no time. I lured him with treats to use them instead of jumping,” he added.
Turbo’s kind act for his dog inspired dozens of other users to share their own stories about how they had made life easier for their own pets.
“It took my dog a few weeks to learn how to use her stairs to get on our bed. She still wakes us up when she wants to get up in the middle of the night if there is no light on,” wrote one user.
We think this is a lovely act of human kindness. We know we’d definitely try and do the same for our own pets if they were in a similiar situation.
