We always took comfort in knowing that even if we don't look exactly like Beyoncé, men will be won over by our natural charm and wit.
However, a new study has rained all over that parade.
According to Metro, research has found that men prefer women who laugh at their jokes, rather than women who are funny themselves.
The findings were initially discovered in 2006 when a study by Bressler, Martin and Balshine discovered that men prefer women who are receptive to their jokes, whilst women like men who make them laugh.
Now, additional research at the University Of Miami has unfortunately backed up the evidence.
The authors said that "women want it all; not just a mate who will make them laugh, but one who will appreciate her own humour", "men, by contrast, appear to care more about finding a mate who thinks he’s funny".
We were initially a bit depressed about this but a straw poll of our male mates found that there are plenty of them have crushes of hilarious ladies like Amy Poehler and Chelsea Handler so we reckon we'll still keeping dropping in the odd funny anecdote to seal the deal on a first date!
