In a story that feels straight out of a Hollywood script, MyHeritage has helped bring together a group of siblings separated for more than six decades.
They also discovered that they had another sister with the same name, who tragically passed away years before the reunion.
This extraordinary family reunion was made possible through MyHeritage DNA and its global matching technology, which spans multiple countries and decades as well as a few surprises.
Susan (Suzy) Fraser, 64, was adopted as a baby and spent most of her life trying to find and connect with her birth family. That changed when she took a MyHeritage DNA kit - and the results were nothing short of life-altering.
The DNA test connected Suzy to two half-sisters: Eileen and Sharon.
She was stunned - not just to find Eileen and Sharon - but also to realise that that there had been another sister, also named Susan (Susie) who had tragically passed away when she was just 19.
The coincidence was uncanny - a daughter lost, and decades later, a daughter with the same name found.
"I saw the photographs of our sister Susie who was nineteen when she passed away and also the picture of our newly-found Suzy, as she is now and it was as if it was the same person," said Sharon.
The siblings quickly connected via phone, email, and eventually, in person. They poured over old family photos, swapped stories, and marvelled at the similarities they shared - from their voices to their sense of humour.
The sisters' reunion didn’t just heal personal wounds - it brought joy and closure to an entire extended family that had experienced generations of separation.
Despite the emotional weight of the discovery from MyHeritage, the sisters kept things light. When they met, they joked about catching up on 60 years of gossip in 60 minutes, and immediately began planning their "sister bucket list", and had the opportunity to meet for the first time in Thailand.
"I just feel loved now," Suzy said. "We would walk along and hold hands and cuddle each other. There is nothing strange about it or uncomfortable about it. It is just awesome."
"We lost one Suzy and gained another," added Eileen.
This is one of many emotional reconnections made possible by MyHeritage, a global leader in family history discovery and DNA testing.
With over 104 million users worldwide and cutting-edge DNA matching, MyHeritage has helped reunite countless families and rewrite the narratives of people's lives.
Gilad Japhet, founder of MyHeritage, said: "Stories like Suzy's remind us of the incredible power of family, and how a simple DNA test can spark the most meaningful chapters of a person's life."
If you want to uncover your origins and potentially find new relatives with the simple DNA test then you can get kits for just €33/£33 plus free shipping via myheritage.com.
