So did you hear the news? According to reports, our beloved gritty drama Love/Hate could be heading Stateside following a US firm’s interest in the award-winning show.
Yes, apparently broadcasters across the pond are just dying to put their own spin on the show, which centres on violent gangland activity in ireland.
All this speculation about an American version of Love/Hate got us thinking about which actors could sucessfully portray King Nidge and co. on screen. Here’s who we think should be cast...
Nidge:

Obviously the person who takes up the all-important role of Nidge needs to understand what it’s like to play a cold, psychotic leader. We think Aaron Paul (of Breaking Bad fame) would be perfect. Granted he doesn’t look as ‘hardened’ as Nidge, but he’s charming, he already has vast experience playing a drug dealer and he’d serve as the eye candy when Darren isn’t on screen.
Fran:

Fran really came into his own as a character in season three of Love/Hate. He’s greasy, he’s loud and he happily does whatever Nidge tells him to. We think Giovanni Ribisi could pull this role off. If he grew his hair and let himself go a little, we’d all get over the fact that he used to be Phoebe’s brother in Friends. We just wonder if he’d keep Fran’s trademark catchphrase of “coolaboola”?
Darren:

Now, we understand that whoever plays the part of Darren needs to be sensitive, a bit sexy and capable of quieting his conscience enough so he can carry out a hit when he needs to. All we’re saying is, if you put Adam Brody in a blue hoody and let him get a little bit scruffy, he’d make the perfect Darren. Plus, it’d be pretty awesome to see Seth Cohen from The O.C breaking the law and going a bit mental.
Tommy:

We thought long and hard about this one. Who on earth would be suitable to play the part of Tommy? And who would we be most upset to see getting beaten to a pulp by Nidge? Ryan Gosling seemed like the most logical choice. Mainly because we reckon he’d portray Tommy’s soft gentle side just right. Plus he’d also be a babe magnet like Tommy. All he has to do is shave his head and get an earring. Sorted.
