Make-A-Wish Grants Five-Year-Old’s Wish To Star In His Own Godzilla Movie

This warmed our hearts.

Make-A-Wish is a very special charity, granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses around the world.

The Illinois branch of the foundation received a special request from five-year-old Maddex, who suffers from leukemia.

Maddex, a super fan of the Godzilla movies, had a wish to star in his own version of the film and thanks to Make-A-Wish, this dream is now a reality.

Becker Film Inc created “Madzilla” and much like the people of San Francisco helped to make Batkid’s dream a reality, those living in Chicago did the same for Maddex.

More than 100 actors and extras turned up to take part in the film and not only did Maddex get the opportunity to become Godzilla, he also helped direct the extras who had to run away from the monster.

The production was filmed in Chicago, at Maddex’s home, on LaSalle Street in the Loop, and on a sound stage where a model of Grant Park was created.

The little boy was diagnosed with leukemia a year ago and still has to undergo a further 18 months of treatment but the filming process has helped to distract him. “It was definitely the happiest we’ve ever seen him,” said his father, Tony.

Filming has now wrapped with a premiere scheduled for late August, when Maddex will get the chance to walk the red carpet.
