Meet the first dogs-elect of the United States of America: Champ and Major

Joe and Jill Biden will be bringing dogs back to the White House and one of them will be the first ever presidential rescue dog.

It's been a mad weekend folk. The democratic candidate Joe Biden is now the President-Elect of the United States of America, for the first time in history the US also has a female Vice-President in the form of Kamala Harris *pause for cheers* and Donald Trump won't accept defeat. But as shocking news goes, well... we're not shocked by that last one.

The good news we're focusing on today concerns dogs! Yes, the Biden family are dog-lovers and they'll be bringing two gloriously fluffy best friends to the White House with them in January.

We all love a presidential pup around here (I still get sad when I think of Síoda) so, after four years of the Trump clan not having a cat to rub between them, animals are making a welcome return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Champ and Major are the German Shepherds in question and although Champ is a dab-hand at the political pooch life (he was around during the Obama years), it will be Major's first time in the White House.

Major was  rescued by the Biden family as a puppy back in 2018.

The dogs are clearly a massive part of family life as the soon to be first family of the US frequently post about them on social media:

During his campaign Joe Biden made it clear he wanted to, 'bring dogs back to the White House' and it went down a treat! His predecessor, Donald Trump, was the first president in decades not to own a dog, President Obama had two Portuguese water dogs, Bo and Sunny, by his side for his eight-year tenure.

We're leaving you with the below picture to brighten up your day.

Have a great Monday.
