There is a real pressure on society today to spend a certain amount on engagement rings.
Last week, we told you about a woman who’s engagement ring was called pathetic because it only cost $130.
Obviously, it absolutely doesn’t matter what is spent on the ring, but it’s still interesting to see the average men and women spend on them.
According to Valentina, December is the most popular month for engagements. In fact, 20% of engagements take place during the festive season.
Across Ireland, there is an interesting difference in how much is spent on rings depending on the county.
Cork men spend the most on the piece of Jewellery with a very generous €3,500.
Dublin (€2,149) and Galway (€1,449) come in 2nd and 3rd as the county with the most money spent on engagement rings.
On the lower end of spending, the county that spends the least on diamond rings is Westmeath at €729 followed by Cavan men with €899.
All in all, Irish men are quite generous when it comes to popping the question.
However, sadly 1 in 3 men lie about how much they have spent on a ring when family and friends ask. This is most commonly done to impress in-laws.
