Flood warnings have been issued to seven counties that could face coastal flooding this morning, while a National Yellow Wind Warning is in place across the country.
Met Éireann issued a Status Yellow Weather Advisory has been issued for Wexford, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford last night, with fresh gale warnings updated today.
The coastal counties are believed to be at risk due to a "combination of strong onshore winds, high tides and heavy rain brings the enhanced risk of coastal flooding overnight and tomorrow morning to exposed coastal areas".
For those areas not affected by flooding, Met Eireann warn of strong gale force winds rapping at your windows this morning.
The forecast warns:
‘South to southwest winds of 60 to 65km/h, with gusts of 100 to 110km/h are expected, with higher speeds at times in some exposed Atlantic coastal areas.’
A Status Yellow rainfall warning has also been issued for West Munster, Connacht and Donegal, with rainfall of up to 40mm expected in places.
As the blustery conditions die down later this evening, people can expect temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.
