Miss Nevada is set to become the first transgender woman in Miss USA history

Change is happening.

The winner of Miss Nevada is set to become the first transgender woman to compete in the Miss USA competition.

After being crowned Miss Nevada, Kataluna Enriquez is heading to the Miss USA pagent, being the first openly transgender woman to take part, according to People.

Competing against 21 other women in Las Vegas, Kataluna was really embracing pride month with a dress covered head to toe in rainbow sequins.

Revealing her look on Instagram, Kataluna said that the dress was made especially for her and aims to represent Pride and “all of those who don’t get a chance to spread their colors.”

Kataluna is now heading for the country wide pageant where she’ll represent her state of Nevada, after her Miss Silver State title won her the crown.

After her victory on Sunday, Kataluna took to Instagram to share the experience, and thanked her those who helped her achieve so much in the competition.

She said: “To my pageant mommy @rissrose2 , no words can describe how much I am grateful of you. For your constant support, for welcoming me in to your home, and feeding me nothing but love.

“Team @misssilverstate, you are all inspiring. your love, support and sisterhood has healed many years of struggle. My times and giggles with y’all never be replaceable.

“To all the sponsors, Thank you. I couldn’t have done it without your help. Huge thank you to everyone who supported me from day one.

“My community, you are always in my heart. My win is our win. We just made history. Happy pride.”

But pageants like this aren’t the only thing Kataluna is killing it at, according to the Miss Silver State Instagram account, she’s a healthcare admin, business owner, and fashion designer, what an all rounder.
