Property website Daft.ie has released figures this week that show an 11% increase in rents around the country in the last 12 months.

Unsurprisingly, the report also shows that in Dublin, rent prices went up by 14% since last year. The website noted however that the growth in rents in the capital is starting to slow, even though the latest figures show a 30% increase on rental prices since 2012.

Indeed, rental prices in Dublin are now just 10% below the 2007 prices, when Dublin rental prices were at their peak.

It wasn’t just the capital that was hit with above average rental price increases though, as surrounding commuter counties Kildare, Wicklow and Meath also jumped in price at 14%, 13% and 11% respectively – a 20% increase on two years ago.

Elsewhere, Galway was up by 7%, Cork by 8%, Limerick by 6% and Waterford by 5%.

Meanwhile, summer rents are also up as the report shows that over the months of June, July and August, rents became more expensive in every county, with the average rent during the summer now at €933 in comparison to €842 last year.
